Long Fowler
Circa 1830's
Lock Marked "C. BAKER" (Albany, NY)
Approximately 68.5-inches overall
Barrel approximately 52.75-inches
Purportedly found in a Pownal, Vermont Attic - SOLD

This percussion fowlers lock is signed "C. BAKER" and it has a brass butt plate, trigger guard with acorn finial and brass pipes; iron ramrod. The stock has great color and patina; there is a crack near the muzzle; small wedge of wood missing near the butt plate as depicted; the imperfections and loss does not distract or negatively affect the aesthetic. The barrel is an even brown color; typical expected pitting around the nipple. American Gunsmiths by Sellers contains reference to a percussion fowler by C. Baker, Albany, NY, and dated 1839.
