Records indicate three generations of Nathaniel Whitmores, all working in the Boston, Mansfield, and Sutton area. Every example made by Nathaniel Whitmore [and his family] has shown meticulous attention to fit and finish and an artistic eye, whether it was simple and functional or fancy. His quality of work puts him at the top of gunmakers in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts in the 19th century.
Because this is a cartridge gun, we assume the manufacturing date to be 1870-ish.
