The pistol has a brass front sight blade, dished rear sight, swivel ramrod with button head and iron mountings; brass pan. Excellent lock markings: the lock is marked “U.S. / R. JOHNSON / MIDDN CONN / 1841″. Upper barrel at breech is marked “U.S.” over “NWF” over “P”. The stock displays sharp inspector’ s marks: “JH” [Joseph Hannis] and “W.A.T [William A. Thornton, B”.et Brigadier General, U.S. Army; Chief Inspector Contract Arms]”.
