New England Martial Musket

Circa 1795

Having a nice architecture with crisp comb and delicate wrist; .72-caliber smooth-bore barrel; original flintlock. The frizzen is refaced; plumb-brown barrel color. Brass blade sight, four brass pipes and brass trigger guard having long tang and floral engraving; engraved brass butt-plate with shaped tang and an engraved thumb-piece initialed-JL. The two-screw brass plate is nicely shaped, border engraved with a simple floral and foliate engraving surrounding the rear screw.
The wood has a beautiful grain and good rich color; minor dings...a tight fissure in the wrist is secure. A small wedge parallel to tang, just behind breech is replaced, There are a couple miniscule wood repairs mentioned for accuracy.
Overall length: 55.75-inches, barrel length: 39.75-inches.
