HARPERS FERRY
MODEL 1803 FLINTLOCK RIFLE
Later production...Circa 1817 - SOLD

This example, a .58 caliber; 36-inch part octagonal barrel with standard 7-grove rifling. Standard markings on lockplate with date 1817 at rear. Thick barrel rib; metal ramrod with brass trumpet tip; brass furnishings.
Brown patina with mixed traces of bright finish and surface; mellow patina on brass; all brass parts original; patch-box cover fine. There is a very tight hairline crack at rear lockplate within plateau that is mentioned for accuracy; wood has nice color and rich patina. Ramrod is original; mechanically good; original flintlock. There is a chip on heel of butt...overall a very decent example.
