Eagle Pommel Hanger
Dyed Ivory Grip
18th Century

A striking sword with ivory handle stained green and carved with a twist. The hilt has a silver eagle head pommel and quillon with a spread wing eagle in the center and eagle head finials. The engraved blade has double fullers and a false edge. The hilt has a double chain knuckle guard. The black leather scabbard has a silver tip and throat with a stamped eagle. The blade has nicks and some rust, the ivory has a crack and small chip, the collar on the eagle head is broken, the chain has been mended, the scabbard has an old mend, all of which is noted for accuracy.
Dimensions: 29.75-inch overall length, 24-inch blade length.
