Engraved Powder Horn
Inscribed To W. & Abner Taylor
Circa 1768 - SOLD

Engraved powder horn inscribed "W. TAYLOR" below the ring and "ABNER TAYLOR" with double lines topped by loops further down the throat. The area around the edge of the plug is decorated with a horse and a snake, along with geometric shapes and the date 1768 topped by loops and palm trees. The center of the horn has a large engraving of a flying fish and two ships as well as "Wm Taylor" inscribed in Gothic letters and a grouping of six pinwheels. The horn has great patina. There are two pinholes in the horn and three cracks in the spout, which are noted for accuracy.
