Cased Colt Model 1851 Navy London Hartford Revolver![]() The gun has matching serial numbers (40566), with Hartford features such as the beveled loading slot, a London barrel address with dashes instead of arrows at each end and the grip frame not cut for the shoulder stock. The serial number shows production in 1855. The barrel lug shows the London proof and view marks on the left side with the loading lever number reading from left to right. The cylinder shows the proof and view marks between each nipple. The back strap and trigger guard are of iron. The cylinder shows the remains of the safety pins and has no finish but retains 90% of the naval scene. The barrel retains 85% bright blue with some missing from the right side due to case contact. The frame shows 50% bright case color with one replaced screw. The balance of the metal is an even gray brown. The wood grips show 75% varnish with a small chip in the left panel. The oak case is compartmented and lined with a green baize material containing a round knob steel cleaning rod, a "Colts Patent" steel 2-cavity mold, a pewter oil bottle, a Hawksley bag flask with spout adjustable from 3/4 to 7/8 to 1 dram of powder, some cast projectiles and a partial tin of Eley Bros percussion caps. The loading and cleaning instructions are glued to the inside lid and a 1.25-inch diameter round initial plate is inlet in the top lid. A combination nipple wrench/screwdriver completes the picture.
