British Flintlock Holster Pistol By Wilson
London, Circa 1760-1780
This unusual decorated flintlock pistol was manufactured between by a member of the famous Wilson gun making family, probably William Wilson in London. The gun is .64 caliber with an 8-inch round barrel and measures about 14-inches in overall length. The lock is signed "Wilson" in script and the barrel bears London proofs. The butt cap depicts a stand of arms. The entire wood stock is overlaid in an engraved silver vine pattern, the silver being held in place by tiny brass pins. The design is Eastern European in style with the quality of the workmanship decidedly British. The piece is in overall fine condition with only a few pins missing, a couple of small sections of silver missing and some minor wood deterioration just below the lock.
