1766/1768 Charleville Musket Restocked During The Period - SOLD

The wood used in this "American restocked" example is cherry with the stock less bulky and lighter than the original French style. It appears to be original flintlock. Frizzen, frizzen spring and hammer are replaced; frizzen during the period of use, hammer during the period of use, frizzen spring probably later. Lock marked Charleville. All the iron furniture appears to be correct French furniture for the period. There is a repaired crack above and behind the lockplate and an almost insignificant repaired crack at the fore end.
