U.S. Militia Officer's Sword by Ames, Pearl Grip, Roman Helmet Pommel, view 4

A high grade sword having gilt hilt featuring helmet pommel, mother-of-pearl scales and a cast ferrule and chain guard. The quillon with scrolled finials is integral to downturned cast clamshell guard with high-relief spread-wing eagle. The blade displays good color and remains in fine condition and is etched with clusters of acorns and oak leaves, eagle, and scrolling. The gilt brass scabbard retains double top rings and a middle carrying ring and its cast/ gilt mountings including shoe type drag. The overall condition is excellent; couple shallow creases to scabbard constant with age, else fine.
