Model 1795 Harpers Ferry Flintlock Musket Dated 1817, Type IV Date/Period: A very nice early example dated 1817
Measurement: Barrel: 42”
Material: Black walnut
Condition: Stock in excellent condition, all parts are original, action is tight and smooth.
Barrel, lock, sideplate, and buttplate are bright and smooth.
Additional Information: A very nice early “Charleville Pattern” dated 1817 which was
produced for government use. Original .74-caliber smoothbore flintlock having an
integral rounded pan and frizzen with straight toe; double-necked flat sided beveled
cock. Lockplate marked: “HARPERS / FERRY / 1817” behind the cock. The front
marked with a spread winged eagle clutching arrows and olive branch in talons, and a
shield on breast. The trigger guard ends are rounded. Barrel secured to stock by three
bands. The iron buttplate is unmarked. The barrel is marked to left of breech tang with
“US” in oval and “eagle head” in oval. Sling swivels on trigger guard and middle band.
The bore looks good and is semi bright, will clean nicely.
