Cased & Dealer Marked London Webley & Scott Engraved Pocket Pistol
.32 Caliber, 2.5-inch Barrel, Serial Number: 2776, E.M. Reilly & Co.
A fine and rare factory engraved Webley & Scott six shot, double action pocket revolver
featuring beautiful factory engraving. Likely a Webley No. 2, a very rarely seen revolver
with square butt grip, (most were bird's head grips). A near identical revolver can be
found on pages 194 to 197 of “Webley Solid Frame Revolvers: Bulldogs & Pugs"
by Horner Ficken, Frank Mitchel, and Joel Black.
The pistol is marked "W&S" with winged bullet on left side of frame. 90% brilliant
factory blue on cylinder; 50% brilliant blue on barrel, balance flaking. 70% blue on
trigger guard and metal butt; traces of blue on engraved backstrap. Mechanically
fine…action is smooth and tight. Near mint checkered walnut grips. Retailer marked on
top of frame "E.M. REILLY CO. 315 OXFORD ST. LONDON". The pistol is housed
within an original dovetailed and fitted oak case with a spurious dealer label attached to
interior of lid; also includes an E.M. Reilly cap tin, small oil bottle and small cleaning rod
with jag that was obviously married to case. Beautiful item for the collector of small
bulldog type revolvers…displays beautifully.
