British Brass Barrel Pistol with Bayonet & Belt Hook, Silver Mounted
Unknown Maker, circa 1790-1820, converted circa 1830s
London View Mark - SOLD

British Brass Barrel Pistol with Bayonet & Belt Hook, Silver Mounted
Unknown Maker, circa 1790-1820, converted circa 1830s
London View Mark, left facing blade

Likely returned to maker to be “improved” by converted from flintlock to percussion
action. Because the cannon muzzle is notched for a ramrod, it is possible that the
gunmaker employed an old barrel to make this gun. The finely checkered grip is inlayed
with vacant silver thumbpiece. Spring-loaded bayonet is deployed by pulling trigger
guard backwards. Two stage brass barrel and engraved frame. The action is tight and
smooth, overall fine condition. (Overall length: 8.5"; barrel length: 3.75")
