42”, .69-caliber barrel, dated 1841 on lock and breech tang, crisp “NH” on bbl flat
An Outstanding Example of the Highest Integrity, NO Flint Marks on Frizzen! - SOLD
A rarely encountered unfired example displaying New Hampshire [NH] marks on left
barrel flat; standard lockplate markings: spread winged eagle over US under pan; tail
marked: SPRING / FIELD / 1841. All iron mountings except detachable brass flashpan
with fence; unique round opening at center of hammer. Retains original ramrod with
trumpet shape head, bayonet lug on bottom of barrel at muzzle. Walnut stock with high
comb is in outstanding original condition. Mechanically fine, tight and smooth; barrel in
smooth gray with dark mottling; barrel bands are brown fading to gray; lockplate and
associated parts of congruent color; buttplate marked US on tang in bright finish.
