Walnut stock with checkering; silver plated engraved brass furniture with 10% original
silver remaining; the barrel was imported and displays Belgian proof mark. Kraft was a
well-known southern maker. The maker operated a shop at 184 Main Street from about
1846 specializing in percussion guns and a few sets of dueling pistols; he eventually
expanded his business to include a line of derringers. Old tight shrinkage fissures
traveling from pineapple trigger guard finial pin to wedges terminating at forend cap.
(.42 caliber; 3” barrel; 6.75” long overall)
