U.S. Model 1842 Percussion Pistol, Johnson Middletown, Connecticut, Circa 1854 (Ira N. Johnson) - SOLD

A Johnson Model 1842 Percussion Pistol, .54 caliber smoothbore, 8.5-inch round barrel with brass blade front sight; overall length: 14-inches. Military proofs on the left side of barrel read “JWP” over “P”. Lockplate marked “U.S. / I.N. Johnson”, marked vertically at lockplate tail: Middtn Conn over date “1854”. Walnut stock with brass furniture. The walnut stock displays two inspector’s marks. Overall condition is excellent, the action is strong and smooth; holds at full and half-stock. Stock displays good color; metal parts are bright.
