Short Sword with Blued and Gilt Blade, Rare Leather Scabbard, Chiseled, Gilt Likely French, Blade signed “ISB, Unknown, Circa 1785-1795

The 31.25” triangular blade is engraved, blued and signed in the forte section, bright finish and very good condition. The hilt is chiseled and gilt; guard features stands of arms against stippled ground…both sides; pommel, Ricasso quillon and pas d’anes

are similarly decorated. The grip is wrapped in alternating silver and copper wire. The leather scabbard is in good condion other than a 5-inch opening in highspot just above the drag 9Easilly repaired) which features a scalloped and “V” notched tipopening and ball shape terminus; the whole displays scroll decoration against stippled and gilt ground…the throat and straps similarly decorated and are complete with carrying rings.
