Appears to be an original flintlock, right facing
The 50 caliber, 41.75" octagonal to round barrel is smooth bore; probably original flintlock, brass blade front sight; rear tang flares outwardly and features a domed terminus. The gun has all brass furniture with four-piece patchbox, sideplate, trigger-guard, buttplate; ramrod ferules, nose-cap and oval thumb-piece. Full maple stock with some curl and beautiful color; "Roman nose" style from the Reading school with elegant drop and incised carved lines parallel to the ramrod channel. Barrel and lock have an even untouched dark brown patina; tight action. The stock has a beautiful patina over what appears to be and untouched surface pigmented with red stain. There are a couple tight and short shrinkage fissures at the barrel key closest to muzzle. This is a very nice Kentucky rifle that has not been compromised. Dimensions: Overall L: 57.5"; barrel L: 41.75"
