A quality flintlock pistol assembled by Thomas Ketland, using parts made by Ketland and Company of London (The Philadelphia Ketland's are 2nd son Thomas Jr. and John. Thomas Jr. resided in Philadelphia from 1789 to 1815.) - SOLD

Ketland Flintlock Pistol, Officer's Quality, TK Mark, German Silver, right facing

10" octagonal barrel with blade front sight and gold bushing, plumb brown; overall length is 15.25", full pin fastened walnut stock featuring bag-shaped flat-sided grip in great color and patina. We note that a sliver of wood at top left forend of muzzle channel, measuring 1.8 by 1.5", has been expertly restored; color, patina and texture match. Ketland lock plate and frizzen are dark with some gun metal gray; hammer is plumb brown; all other furniture is German silver-including engraved lock screw escutcheons, engraved trigger guard with long tang and pineapple forend, pipe and entry pipe, and shield shape thumb-piece. Tight action, overall fine condition.
