Tack and peg joinery; of the three original leather sling straps, two are intact with the third [fragment] being compromised. The surface is original dark green paint now highly oxidized and appearing black. One side centered by impressed initials "JR"; the other side displays "U.S." done in salmon paint, and period scratch-carved initials "WB" as depicted.
