Pottery was first produced in Choisy-le-Roi in 1804. By 1836, Louis Boulenger 0was managing thee factory; he was succeeded by his son Hippolyte Boulenger in 1863. This wonderful majolica piece is stamped ‘Choisy le Roi’ with the letters HB (presumably for Hippolyte Boulenger.) Rarity, subject matter, quality, and condition are terrific…

A rare and large pear shape with finial raised on spreading circular base…the form inspired by metal casters. The underside pierced to receive sugar candy that had been finely ground in a mortar, which resulted in a coarser sugar than we are used to today.(Height: 8.25”)

A plate displaying Profile marriage portraits of Prince and Princess of Orange in favor of the House of orange; Prince William V (1748-1806), A.K.A. Prince of Orange and his wife, Wilhelmina, Princess of Prussia (1751-1820). The inscription, "FSW - PWD5" translates as… "FSW" the name of the Princess Frederika Sophie Wilhelmina; PWD5 for Prince William Batavus De (the) 5th. Very good original condition.
