Material: Maple and white pine
Condition: Excellent, original brasses and escutcheons
Additional Information: The rectangular top projecting over the case containing
graduated drawers…the whole on molded base raised on applied bracket feet.

Chippendale Slate Top Mixing Table, Housatonic Valley, Original Red Surface
Massachusetts or Connecticut

Material: Maple, birch, and white pine
Condition: Excellent
Additional Information: The moldings securing slate top are secured by rarely
encountered corner joints of Chinese tradition. This piece is from a very old Berkshires
collection; it was found in the Berkshires and was likely made there.

Federal Sideboard, Serpentine Front, Tapered Legs
Connecticut, circa 1795-1805
Cherry
An outstanding serpentine-front inlaid sideboard, probably Connecticut, circa 1800,
cherry. The oblong serpentine-front top with alternating light and dark inlaid edge above
a case with two concave banded short drawers with line inlaid quarter round inlaid
corners and oval inlaid center, centering a long convex drawer with similar inlay and
an ivory escutcheon plate above a pair of concave hinged cupboard doors with banded
and line inlaid quarter round inlaid corners and circular inlaid center and ivory key
escutcheon, centering a pair of recessed convex hinged cupboard doors with similar
inlay and ivory key escutcheon flanked by concave panels with line inlaid quarter round
inlaid corners and vertical oval inlaid center, joined by oval, bellflower and line inlaid
square tapering legs ending in cross banded cuffs. Brasses are period replacements,
surface was cleaned, various minor repairs to inlays.

Half Sideboard with Butler’s Desk Drawer, Probably Vermont
In the Circle of Caleb Knowlton, Brandon, VT (2.)
Date/Period: Circa 1810
Measurement: Height: 49.5"; writing height: 37.5"; width: 43.25"; depth: 20.75"
Material: Cherry, white pine, mixed wood inlays, original brass hardware…
Condition: Excellent, overall condition is fine - commensurate with age and use; trivial
restoration to a short section of applied top molding at side.
Additional Information: Hybrid form incorporating hinged fall-front desk configured like
a butler’s desk [butler’s drawer] flanked by deep bottle drawers; interior of desk drawer
features two-over-four drawers above eight valanced cubbies; baize covered writing
surface. The case containing four graduated cockbeaded, string-inlayed drawers is
raised on French feet joining apron.
Nailed to backboard is a first quarter of twentieth century shipping label (1.) from E. J.
Johnson Antique Furniture of White River Junction, Vermont displaying a Maine
forwarding address; the piece was recently privately picked in Maine.

Condition: Excellent condition.
Additional Information: Overhanging top with backsplash over plain apron containing
solid curly maple drawer; the apron joining turned legs resting on ball feet.

Serving Table, Make-Do, Period Queen Anne Highboy Base
Mid-19th Century Assemblage
Date/Period: 1760-1780, top added 1840-1880 - SOLD
Measurement: Width: 38.5"; depth: 20.25"; Height: 36"
Material: Walnut, poplar secondary
Condition: Original knee brackets, mid-19th century single board top…the finish
appears to have been done at the same time and now displays a flat dry patina. The
proper left rear foot suffered a split and was glued by an owner. The brasses are not
original but have been there a very longtime.
Additional Information: As frequently encountered, top and bottom cases were
divorced; a slightly projecting molded top was added during the mid-19th century
creating a functional piece of furniture. The case containing a single long drawer over
three short drawers above shaped aprons…the whole raised on cabriole legs resting on
turned pad feet.
