Antique Trade Sign, Weaver's Guild, Image 1

Woman seated at her loom surmounting title lines. Founded in 1922, the Weaver's Guild of Boston is the oldest weavers' guild in the United States. The Weaver's Guild was founded and designed to educate, inspire, and provide a community for fellow weavers and fiber lovers. The guild remains active.

Date: 1922

Measurement: 2" x 28.5" x 20"

Material: Pine, Iron hardware, paint

Condition: The structural integrity is intact; overall oxidation. Water stain as depicted on one side over "VERS", else fine. Displays very well.

Reference: The sign was researched [not completed] a decade ago however the file and substantiating photograph was lost. The Boston chapter opened a store in Salem...this is the storefront sign that was cantilevered from the building. The store was closed during the Great Depression. Fast forward: the sign was part of the 30-year private collection of Lynne and Paul Weaver which was sold in July of 2013 by Hap Moore Antiques Auctions. The sign was purchased by New Hampshire collectors who recently consigned to AAAWT.
