Samuel Grogg, a farmer with eighth grade education, started painting in his retirement. He exhibited at the van Wert County Art Club. On the verso are found a letter to Mr. Glover [purchased this painting from the artist] expressing the artists appreciation for Glover's interest and encouragement in the artists "very humble work". Also attached herewith is an information form with simple biography asking the Dayton Art Institute for entry forms.
