Exceptional box with large pincushion top, initialed "JW" on front, fine petaled flower accents in gold, brass lion's head pull, center medallion on rear "AUS LIEBE" translates to "Out of Love" framed period photograph under lid... probably the maker who gifted the box to his sweetheart.
