Hand-forged spring rushnip with a tripod base and integral leaf spring operating the jaws with balled terminus. The tapered stem, forged spring mechanism, and restrained design reflect the skilled work of a blacksmith producing functional domestic lighting. Illustrated in Early Lighting (The Rushlight Club), page 14, figure 2-20. Formerly from the Mabel & Lawrence Cooke Collection.

Item Condition: Very good condition with an untouched surface displaying an even, consistent patina. Age-appropriate wear throughout with no apparent repairs.
