Southeastern Pennsylvania

This early to mid-nineteenth century slip decorated, red earthenware plate with a coggled edge was made in southeastern Pennsylvania. This style of production was common to many Pennsylvania-German potters working in the 1800s, this is a very nice example, whereas the potter created an arching and squiggled design using four lines of slip. The plate is also adorned with scattered little black dots adding a contrasting aesthetic appeal to the different glaze colors.
