The most compact case of derringers known by the best maker in Philadelphia

A Cased pair of J. E. Evans, Philadelphia, brown striped barrels with gold in the striping; engraved German silver mountings, smoky case colors at breech and tang, lock and hammer. Cased in a brass bound rosewood case featuring a medium brushed cotton [velvet] interior with ALL accessories including a small shell flask with 95% varnish, scissors mold marked .44, iron cap box, rosewood handled rammer with removable tip for attaching steel ball puller/cleaner. Also, a rosewood handled screwdriver, 2 triangular compartments with ivory handles, and the case key.
The bottom of case is covered in red baize and retains a nearly complete label for “BOLEN, ENGRAVER AND PRINTER / 104 Broadway, between Wall and Pine Streets (NYC) Bolen was a major retailer for Ethan Allen, also Allen and Thurber, and Rogers Cutlery among others.
Measurement: Pistols are 6” overall; barrels: 3”; case: 6.75 by 9 3/8”

Item Condition: Outstanding condition including mechanics, rifling, and case. We note that there is a small wood crack issuing from side plate screw caused by shrinkage.
