Possibly Friendship Gifts
Heavy cardboard boxes covered in wallpaper surmounted with rectangular stuffed theorem decorated velvet pincushions. Each lid bordered with embossed foil. These nesting boxes display names and phrases: Ann, Sarah, Forget Me Not… and two for Don decorated with “d’amitis” which is French for “of Friendship”.
Item Date: Circa 1840's
Measurement: Graduated, smallest to largest: 4" X 2.5" X 1.5"; 5" X 3.5" X 2"; 7.5" X 5.5" X 3.5".
Material: Cardstock, wallpaper, printed paper, velvet, and watercolor.
Item Condition: Very good, minor fading, original stretcher and backboards.
