Patriotic painting featuring the Goddess of Liberty, an allegorical celebration of the New Nations Independence and Security. The Goddess seated on roiling clouds supports a shield bearing the arms of the United States while feeding an American Eagle on the Wing; in her left hand is a staff with Liberty cap. The composition within an oval border displaying raised bullets [dots]… gilt spandrels ornament the corners. It is possible that this gem adorned an early piece of firefighting apparatus.
