Rectangular top having molded edges projecting over a plain apron raised on robustly turned legs joined by molded stretchers. Traces of early red paint are more prevalent on underside.
This table is related to early tavern and/or worktable forms however this table is unique in its diminutive scale. The well-used top, darkened with age and use…displaying the vestiges of time suggests that it may have been used at the hearth facilitating food preparation. Nutting displays a small table standing at 22-inches that he suggests may have been used to serve coffee or tea. The full foot survival may speak to a static position rather than being dragged around a sandy tavern floor for many decades.
