This table is new to the market and was examined by Rhode Island furniture expert Patricia Kane [before she recently passed away] who posted the table on the Rhode Island Furniture Archive; Yale University Art Gallery webpage.
Item Date: Circa 1760-1780
Measurement: Height: 25.25"; top open: 32.5" x 32"; top down: 32.5" x 10.75"
Material: Maple, Northeastern white pine, and chestnut battens.
Item Condition: Good… commensurate with age and use; as depicted minor losses to rule joint; shrinkage crack to leaf of which the integrity was assured during the eighteenth century by installing four battens attached with rosehead nails [to underside] as shown. The red paint is likely 18th or very early 19th century. Please know that our expert restorer removed, blended and in-painted water rings. Before and after pictures available.
