Double scrolled conjoined backsplashes centered by matchstick molded plinths over three short drawers over a pair of deep short drawers flanked by inset reverse painted [eglomise] panels – beneath which are turned ebonized columns continuing to turned feet; joining a matchstick-molded apron conforming to columns and case sides.

Material: Mahogany, veneer, white pine, fire gilt brass hardware, eglomise panels

Item Condition: Excellent original condition with only trivial imperfection common to veneered cases, and commensurate with age and use, displays well. Expert conservation available.

Provenance: A very old label glued to drawer interior states that “This bureau was formally owned by Silas Furbush, born in Grafton May 19 – 1766. Given to his daughter Nancy Forbush on her wedding day in the year 1823 – Given to her daughter Nancy Mariaon her wedding day Oct. 18 -1849 -.
