A superb free blown black glass shaft and globe wine bottle from Devon with seal applied to shoulder featuring a lark rising with ear of wheat in its beak. This is the Crest of the Clarke family of Bridwell, Uffculme, Devon.
Shallow kickup with bold blowpipe pontil. Marvered lower body and rounded sloping upper body into wide based tapering neck going through saturn ring string-rim below everting snapped-off lip. Full original surface sheen. Hundreds of very attractive bubbles in glass. This is one of the very few shaft & globe bottles from the Westcountry.

Item Condition: Generally, it is very good, especially considering age and use; there are two minor shallow flakes (1 mm x 5 mm) & (1 mm x 8 mm) on lower seal edge to left. There are chippings to top third of lip edge… otherwise excellent original condition.
