An old "granny note" written with a fountain pen is neatly sewn to the quilt that reads: "Old Diamond Pattern Quilting. This quilt is known to have been made more than 125 years ago. A gift to - Mrs. H. Wentworth Dickinson. Cloth pattern is of Partridge or Pigeon now extinct in North America."
