Benjamin Williams Crowninshield was born on 27 Dec 1772 in Salem, Essex County, Massachusetts, to Capt. George Crowninshield (1734-1815) and Mary Derby (1737 – 1813) and died on 3 Feb 1851 in Boston, Suffolk County, Massachusetts, he is buried at Mount Auburn Cemetery, Cambridge, Middlesex County, Massachusetts. He graduated from William and Mary College. He married Mary Boardman (1778 – 1840) on 1 Jan 1804 in Salem, Massachusetts.
