Six reverse-raised panels with applied moldings, within a mortise-and-tenon frame joined with wooden pins, displaying original polychrome foliate and fruit ornamentation and a monogram [EC] at bottom center. Retains original dry surface.
The decoration on this overmantel is related to several house interiors and pieces of furniture from North Carolina. While none of the individual decorative elements are identical, the overall design vocabulary is closely related.
