William Verstille (1757-1803), Miniature Portrait of Gentleman

The artist was active and lived in Massachusetts where he was born and died, he also painted in Connecticut, New York, Salem and Philadelphi. His portrait miniatures are in major American museums. He painted while serving in the military during the American Revolution. His paintings resemble the work of John Ramage, whom Verstille studied and copied.
