This exceptional two-sided, hand-painted wooden street name sign is slightly arched with gently rounded (oval) ends and two metal eyelets for suspension from above – likely intended for sheltered use rather than prolonged outdoor exposure.
Obverse Side: Bold, gold/yellow block with black silhouette reading SOUTH MAIN STREET on a faded reddish-brown ground.
Reverse Side: Similar gold/yellow lettering with conforming black silhouetting on a darker blue-gray or blackish ground, reading EAST & WEST MAIN ST’S
Item Date: Circa 1900-1920

Material: Pine
Item Condition: Excellent original condition commensurate with age and use. The “SOUTH MAIN STREET” side shows some scattered thinning to red background paint.
