Twisted Stem Rushlight Holder with Candle Counterweight, Probably England

Hand-forged rushlight holder with forged pivoting jaws, twisted stem, and twisted candle arm terminating in a square counterweight. Raised on a three-footed tripod base with broad flattened feet. The robust construction, heavy gauge iron, and restrained form are consistent with English examples dating to the late eighteenth century. The ironwork displays an untouched surface with naturally developed patina throughout.

Material: Hand-forged wrought iron.

Item Condition: Very good. The wrought iron exhibits age-appropriate surface oxidation and retains a well-developed, untouched patina. No apparent breaks or repairs.
