This early to mid-nineteenth century slip decorated, red earthenware plate with a coggled edge was made in southeastern Pennsylvania. This style of production was common to many Pennsylvania-German potters working in the 1800s, although this is a very nice example, whereas the potter created an appealing slip design using the four sides of the plate with a crossing design in the center.
