Each chair with arched crest centering a fishtail detail above three split bannisters centered by knopped styles featuring reel and elongated vase turnings above rush seats raised on elongated turned legs joining double box stretcher with frontal paired vase and reel turnings.

Three of these matched chairs were part of the famous Monahan Collection sold by Northeast Auctions – Saturday, August 4, 2001. Two of the chairs in same surface were later reunited.

Item Date: 1745-1760

Measurement: Height: 42.25"; Seat Height: 16"; Width: 19"; Depth: 15"

Material: Maple

Item Condition: Its all about the outstanding surface! As depicted – the chairs have lost a small amount of height [most noticeable on the underside of a couple of the lower front stretchers], yet the red painted surface transcends all. There was a single breakout to the backside of one keeper rail during the chairs early working life…the chair received a soulful repair using the original piece of wood and five small nails as depicted. And finally, the same banister broke out of the top crest rail s depicted…all part of the chair’s history. All chairs are worthy of daily use.
