An anonymous yet distinctive hand created this composition featuring smooth porcelain-like facial modeling; strong coral-red cheeks; sharply delineated blue eyes; rather sculptural treatment of the nose; terrific neoclassical hairdo displaying individually described curls around the temples and ear; extremely precise costume painting…and somewhat long, boneless-looking fingers holding the book.
