Pair, Redware Political Barrel Shape Tankards, 1876 Presidential Campaign

These large mugs were produced for the 1876 presidential campaign, a large barrel shape handled mug for each party; each featuring incised lettering naming candidates for the Republican and Democrat parties.

Item Date: 1876

Measurement: Height: 6.25"

Material: Redware

Item Condition: The Hayes & Wheeler mug remains in very good original condition with only trivial imperfections [scattered dings]. The Tilden and Hendricks piece is in original condition; there are a few hairlines and glaze wear/dings to high spots such as barrel bands… the lower interior displays scattered glaze flaking likely caused by cutlery or similar objects being stored within. Both pieces display well.
