Simple rectilinear form with no applied molding or decoration. The restrained, utilitarian design is consistent with vernacular furniture of the Federal and early Greek Revival periods of the New England and Mid-Atlantic regions.

The deep recessed inset splash well is above the lower full-width section which is of generous proportion; door opens to a commodious interior having a single shelf.

The early sage green paint displays a great patina and is over several earlier paint campaigns; exhibiting outstanding patina and honest wear from generations of use.

A fine example of vernacular country furniture from the first half of the nineteenth century.
