Forged iron splint holder mounted in a turned fruitwood base. Features scrolled gripping jaws, a gracefully forged spring arm with elegant reverse curvature, and a simple pinned pivot. The lead collar at the junction of the stem and base provides a secure mounting for the iron stem. An uncommon European scissor form.

Material: Iron, fruitwood

Item Condition: Very good condition with an untouched surface showing expected wear and patina. Original turned fruitwood base with a lead collar where the iron stem enters the base. The spring mechanism remains intact and functional; however, the jaws no longer fully close when at rest. Vertical mounting post is fabricated of two pieces of iron.
