Hourglass, Sandglass From the Brig Cedrick, Built Duxbury, Mass.

Four turned spindles housing colorless glass bulbs. Hourglass frame marked at top “Brig Cedric 1835”.

The timer is housed withing a very old homemade make-do cylindrical cardboard box… nautica ornamented with three Chinese coins; the interior lined with green paper; the exterior covered with embossed paper. Within the box is a handwritten note on Mystic Seaport Museum letterhead with information regarding the “CEDRIC”.

The 193-ton brig Cedric was built in 1828 in Duxbury, Massachusetts; registered in New York in 1837
