Forged wrought iron rushnip holder with chamfered, widened (flared) jaws, a swelling stem, and a curved arm terminating in a faceted garnet-form counterweight. Raised on three arched legs with penny feet. The quality of the forging is evident in the holder’s balanced proportions and refined finish. The stem and upper surfaces have been carefully whitesmithed, contrasting with the rougher blacksmith-forged finish retained on the undersides of the tripod legs.
