this outstanding cane was likely cared by a Civil War Veteran whereas the maker ornamented the cane with a shield, a Maltese cross, an anchor and other corps badges. The composition includes a dog, a hand with pointing index finger, a violin, turtle…a pocketknife with extended blade and scratch-carved fish on the scale. There are arrows with fletching, a boot, a large bird, stylized diamonds and a coiled snake; various hearts and stars embellish this remarkable effort.
